S7-HMI Adapter
S7-HMI-AdapterS7-HMI Adapter is a DLL driver which, by means of an HMI Adapter, allows a Super-Flash application to communicate with Siemens S7-300/400 PLC.

The communication protocol foresees that the Super-Flash application carries out the role of master and the peripheral HMI Adapter that of slave. The two are connected by means of a serial RS232. The HMI Adapter in turn communicates with the Siemens S7-300/400 PLC by means of the MPI network. The MPI architecture has a multi-point structure; the current firmware of the adapter limits the maximum number of nodes accessible on the MPI network to one, even if the communication protocol between the HMI Adapter and the PC is already set up to dialogue with a maximum of four nodes.

Using an HMI Adapter to communicate with the Siemens S7-300/400 PLC is one of the most economical solutions available on the market and allows you not to insert hardware components in the PC.

Description
By means of an HMI Adapter, the S7-HMI Adapter driver allows a Super-Flash application to communicate, with the Siemens S7-300/400 PLC
Characteristics
  1. Multi-resource: Thanks to the S7-HMI Adapter driver, the following resources of the Siemens S7-300/400 PLC are accessible: data word in data block, memory flag (marker), Input, Output.
  2. Fast: the S7-HMI Adapter driver offers the possibility of exploiting a baud rate up to 115,200.
  3. Powerful: the minimum object to access is 16 bit word, but it is also possible to manage double 32 bit words. The protocol used by the driver allows access "to blocks" with a maximum size 128 words.
Limits
  1. Just a single node of the PLC is available for each HMI Adapter, even if the communication protocol between the HMI Adapter and the PC is already preset to dialogue with a maximum of four nodes. However, it is possible to use several HMI Adapters on separate RS232 Ports
  2. The current version of the driver does not deal with the following PLC resources: timer, counter, status of the CPU, and date-time of the PLC
